Opening in Spring 2025, Fly Niagara VR offers a brand-new way to explore the stunning Niagara Falls. While many have seen the falls from the USA or Canadian side, or even taken a thrilling helicopter ride over the cascading waters, this experience allows you to immerse yourself in a virtual reality adventure. Rainbow Air Helicopter Tours has partnered with Frontgrid, a leader in innovative VR experiences, to create a gamified flying journey over one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders.

A Revolutionary VR Adventure on the USA Side of Niagara Falls

Located at the new Rainbow Air Tourism Center on the USA side of the falls, Fly Niagara VR is set to be a major attraction. The center will include a museum and heritage site, a gift shop, and a photography studio, alongside the Rainbow Air helicopter launch pad. Visitors waiting for their helicopter tour can try out the VR experience, creating a seamless and exciting way to enjoy Niagara Falls.

ParadropVR™ Rize 4: The Heart of the Experience

The Fly Niagara VR attraction uses Frontgrid’s ParadropVR™ Rize 4 technology, which combines motion-based engineering with gamified content. Participants will feel as if they are flying under a canopy, thanks to a finely tuned system that synchronizes their movements with the virtual world. The experience begins with a 360-degree introductory film, allowing users to see and feel the excitement of taking off in a helicopter before transitioning into a gamified world where they control their own VR journey.

Matt Wells, CEO of Frontgrid, shared: “This attraction is a world-first, utilizing our ParadropVR Rize 4 system. It offers a realistic sensation of flying as participants steer themselves through a 4-meter drop, exploring Niagara Falls from a completely new perspective.”

A Stunning and Interactive Way to See Niagara Falls

With the ability to fly closer to the falls than any helicopter tour allows, participants will see details often missed, like the iconic Skylon Tower or the bustling Maid of the Mist boats. They can even race against others or leisurely explore the landscape. Each flight is tracked, and participants can compete on a global leaderboard for added excitement.

Anna Pierce, VP of Rainbow Air, emphasized: “We’ve been giving helicopter tours for 30 years, and this new experience allows us to offer something truly unique. You get a sense of scale and beauty that even long-time visitors to Niagara Falls have never seen before.”

A New Era in Location-Based Flying

Frontgrid has pioneered a new type of immersive experience, coined as location-based flying (LBF). This innovative approach allows people to explore real-world destinations in a virtual, interactive way. The Fly Niagara VR project represents a significant step forward for this category, blending entertainment with the stunning natural environment of Niagara Falls.

Tammy Owens, Business Development Director and Producer, added: “With real-world footage seamlessly integrated into the VR game environment, it’s a dramatic way to see Niagara Falls. It’s built to immerse users in the iconic landscape, and we’ve added gamified elements to make each visit unique.”
